They say fact is stranger than fiction. I find the more I observe my natural surroundings, the more my subconscious bubbles out onto what I thought was something else. How can a ripple in a stream look like a cartoon character? Why clouds can appear as a hand rising out of the ocean, or trees appear as menacing goblins in the shadow? These are the subliminal lines my paintings skate between. What is real and surreal? That is for viewers to decide and artist to exploit.
